Mr. Kaplan has had a long career working in both the public and private sectors of the law. After graduating law school, Mr. Kaplan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gerard L. Goettel of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Kaplan worked for five years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York serving under United States Attorneys Rudolph Giuliani and John Martin. As an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Kaplan was responsible for numerous complex prosecutions and spent two years in the prestigious Securities Fraud Unit of that office.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kaplan was a litigation partner in a major New York law firm. Mr. Kaplan has over 30 years of experience in litigation of complex commercial disputes, white collar criminal matters, and regulatory enforcement proceedings. Mr. Kaplan’s work includes representation of individual and corporate defendants, targets and witnesses in criminal and regulatory matters, advice to corporations and financial institutions on regulatory compliance issues and prosecution of fraud and business tort claims. Mr. Kaplan also maintains an active appellate practice, and has successfully argued numerous appeals to both the United States Court of Appeals as well as the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

Mr. Kaplan provides counseling and representation to a number of major clients in the oil and gas, insurance, entertainment, financial services, tax advantaged investment and brokerage industries.
